My concept for a magazine cover was to create a magazine aimed at aspiring rock guitarists that wasn't information overload. Instead of lots of text hyping the articles inside, my focus was on a single, inspiring image of a successful rock guitarist. A good friend of mine is a concert photographer and was kind enough to let me use a picture of guitarist Stevie Stevens, who is most famous for his work with Billy Idol.
I selected a type treatment for the logo that brought to mind edginess and really complemented the title "SHRED".
