My team developed our idea around the Easton circle and the Easton flag. We noticed that the circle of stars on the flag coincided perfectly with the design of the Easton circle in the center of town. We incorporated the circle of stars into our logo design and added color bars to symbolize the streets that converge at the circle. For our type treatment we went with a classic serif font to conjure up the notion of history that Easton has.
The color bars provided us with an element that could be customized to the piece the logo was being used on. As an example, on our letterhead we extend the vertical to take up the full height of the page.
